Today at the SHIFT Business Festival, Aura Pyykönen from Isla Terveys highlighted why women’s health is one of the most important innovation frontiers of our time.

🔬 Sex matters in medicine

Biological sex influences disease development, symptoms, metabolism, immune responses and treatment effects, yet for decades, medicine underestimated its role.

💵 The funding gap is structural

Women’s health has long suffered from a vicious cycle: limited funding leads to limited evidence and limited evidence is then used to justify continued underinvestment.

📊 We need better data and better listening

Neuvo Inc. Global has developed a digital platform that helps prevent violence against women, among other things. The company has been able to establish relationships with emerging markets through the UN Organization for Gender Equality UN Women in and Nokia. The cooperation has opened doors to Kenya and Tunisia in particular, where local authorities are interested in introducing a digital platform.

Maternity Foundation is advancing its pilot testing on leveraging AI technology to promote safer childbirth in collaboration with the Indian authorities, Neuvo Inc. Global, Aastrika Foundation, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Organon. 

Ms. Ada Kangas from the Finnish company Neuvo Inc. Global, presented their AI-driven solution designed to support survivors of violence against women. The solution features offline and online chat functions, an emergency location module, a service search module, all aimed at making critical information more accessible to women, essential service-provides and policy-makers.

Yesterday, the Embassy of Finland in Tunis, Nokia, UN Women, and Neuvo Inc. Global came together with representatives of the Tunisian government to discuss ways to promote women's rights in technological spaces during a roundtable titled "Ethical AI: Protecting Women and Girls in the Digital Space. [translated]

Neuvo Inc. Global also expressed pride in the recognition of its ethical AI ecosystem. "We are confident that, alongside UN Women and Nokia, we can provide effective solutions to help national partners in government, the private sector, and civil society address the challenges facing Tunisia," the company stated.

To provide even easier access to information in real time, a new AI-powered conversational smartbot called NeMa, developed by Neuvo Inc. Global, is currently being piloted in India. The initiative was facilitated by UNFPA and funded by Organon, a global health-care company focused on women's health.

International NGO Maternity Foundation and Finnish AI startup Neuvo Inc. Global are currently exploring this potential, joining up to develop an AI-powered service to help ensure safer childbirth in low-resource settings, an urgent goal with 800 women and 6,400 newborns dying every day from pregnancy and birth-related complications.

In a partnership with Neuvo Inc. we are in the process of integrating an AI-enabled chatbot into the Safe Delivery App, the NeMa Smartbot. The purpose of the pilot is to test and verify the technical feasibility of integrating an AI-enabled chatbot into the Safe Delivery App with the aim of enhancing the knowledge, skills, and confidence of healthcare workers in low and middle-income settings. In addition, we aim to demonstrate how data analytics will enhance the understanding of user needs as well as possible gaps in knowledge or material. In May of this year we gained approval for pilot testing of the NeMa Smart chatbot in the Safe Delivery App from NHM Punjab in India to go ahead. This pilot testing phase is planned for a period of 3 Months.

Finnish companies Nokia Inc. and Neuvo Inc. Global, together with the UN Women, have made a commitment to design, implement & finance a collaborative pilot project to raise awareness about cervical cancer among women and girls in rural areas to increase their uptake of cervical cancer screening and treatment services.
